Christopher Jones wrote: Josef Goebbels’ wife Magda was very influential in the Third Reich.  Goebbels was her second marriage — her first husband was heir to the Quandt fortune. Cameron Sawyer says: The Quandts, of course, are Germany’s richest family.  Among other holdings, they own 50% of BMW AG and practically control that concern.  RH: There is no Quandt in my International Who’s Who, but  I was happy to find out about Herbert Quandt and his foundation. Herbert must be the first husband of Madga. Here is a brief account of the Foundation: The BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt was established on 22nd June 1970, on the occasion of Herbert Quandt’s 60th birthday in recognition of his services to BMW AG. With the courage and farsightedness of an entrepreneur, Herbert Quandt created the conditions that, from 1959, enabled BMW to grow from a small, struggling firm to a successful group. The activities of the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt aim to improve the dialogue between business, politics and society and to increase mutual understanding. This aim is based on the knowledge that in mature industrial nations successful economic activity can continue only if all social forces interact productively. To this end, the BMW Foundation Herbert Quandt holds an intensive dialogue on a variety of company-related themes at different economic and socio-political, national and international levels. RH: Can someone give us details of Magda’s divorce?  What were Herbert’s relations with the Nazis?  Did Magda prefer power to wealth? In any case, it was an unwise decision. Goebbels had six children, and the whole family died in Hitler’s “Downfall”.  I have not seen that fillm.  How does it treat the Goebbels family?
