... our mission is to inform, inspire, and involve the next generation of social entrepreneurs

FUSION began in 2000 as a student project in a course on social entrepreneurship taught by Greg Dees. Since then, FUSION has pursued its mission to inform, inspire, and involve students in social entrepreneurship by hosting workshops, conferences, and a guest lecture series in addition to encouraging the development of an entire course series on social entrepreneurship and driving the introduction of a minor in Social Innovation at Stanford.

FUSION aims to inform, inspire, and involve the next generation of social entrepreneurs-- at Stanford and beyond.

Inform: FUSION informs students about Social Entrepreneurship by engaging them in Academic Programming across campus. This is accomplished primarily through partnerships with academic departments including Urban Studies, Public Policy, Sociology, the School of Engineering, the Center for Social Innovation at the GSB, and other programs nationally and internationally. We actively push for increased programming in social entrepreneurship in the academic setting.

Inspire: FUSION aims to inspire students to action in social entrepreneurship by engaging them in extracurricular activities across campus. This is achieved through partnerships with other student groups on campus to provide a whole, varied, and hands-on experience where students can apply skills learned in the classroom in other contexts throughout the academic year. We currently work with BASES Social Entrepreneurship Challenge, Engineers for a Sustainable World, Stanford's Environmental Consulting Group, the Social Venture Club at the GSB, and other project based initiatives.

Involve: FUSION involves students in the field of social entrepreneurship by offering summer internships with trusted partner organizations around the country and even internationally. We do this by connecting students eligible for Federal Work Study with social entrepreneurship organizations we know to be doing great work, that have requested interns from us. Last year we placed over a dozen students with awesome (paid!!) internships! FUSION is a true network, the main connector for students and information/opportunities in social entrepreneurship. On top of our regular meetings, FUSION hosts a variety of events throughout the year around social entrepreneurship, co-sponsors many more, and then effectively gets students into the field through service learning opportunities.
