First round bids were exceptionally competitive. Of 606 ranked teams, only 16 received a 1st-Round Bid. All 16 teams should be proud and heartily congratulated: - Northern (Ashbourne & Liu)
- Bentley (Lim & Yau)
- Logan (Nicholson & Pascua)
- William Aberhart (McClary & Sealy)
- Sacred Heart Halifax (MacIntire & Vandenhof)
- Lodi (Miller & Niktaris)
- Sydney Academy (MacDonald & McCormick)
- Lower Canada College (Ballard & Wolman)
- Lodi (Nantt & Wolfe)
- Athenian (Jabbar & Lee)
- Logan (Ballard & Wee)
- Lower Canada College (Lai & Shulman)
- Wilcox (Lee & Schworetzky)
- Ashbury (Chen & Portner-Gartke)
- Royal West (Flomen & Ralph)
- Lynbrook (Diehl & Ramesh)

Also demonstrating just how competitive the bid was, half (8) of the first-rounds went to the US and half (8) went to Canada. The 16 bids went to 13 different schools (only Logan, Lodi, and LCC were able to get two bids).
