Friends of forensics,

Before you pack up your team for the winter vacation, consider signing up for the second annual Hip Hip, Cheerio, and Never Mind the Bollocks Invitational. The tournament will be held on Friday, January 7th and Saturday, January 8th in beautiful Santa Clara, California. On Sunday, January 9th, we will be holding an exclusive one-day round robin for some of the very top high school parliamentary teams in the nation. (The main tournament on the 7th and 8th is entirely separate from the round robin on the 9th). Registration will be open until midnight on Wednesday, January 5th so you will have time to communicate with your team after the Winter Break, and if you need a special extension to get your entries in, don't hesitate to ask.

Last year, the Hip Hip, Cheerio, and Never Mind the Bollocks Invitational was the largest all-parli tournament of the Bay Area, and we are expecting to draw an even larger crowd this year. The tournament itself received overwhelmingly positive feedback from those who filled out the feedback form, with comments such as "These were the best parli topics all year. There were a lot of flow judges and lay judges were well-informed. I haven't heard any complaints about judging or RFDs at all, which is very rare. The tournament ran efficiently and there was never a significant delay. Great job!" And we will be making changes to make our tournament even better, including:

* 6 preliminary rounds of debate (as opposed to 5 last year)
* Everyone with a winning record (i.e., more wins than losses) will be guaranteed to break
* A Round Robin on Sunday, featuring some of the very top high school parliamentary teams in the nation.

For further information and the form to register, please visit: http://www.stanford.edu/~mvassar - and if you know any other schools who may be interested in the tournament, I encourage you to inform them of the link.

Thanks!

Hi Matt,
I was just wondering who is attending the RR and on what criteria they were selected...
Thanks.
Dan and I might very well be attending this one. When is the entry deadline?

Ashley,

Long time, no see. How are things down in Granada Hills? Is parli starting up 'round there?

Anyway, sorry to have missed this post before now. My computer temporarily broke down and I've been away from the message board.

Anyway, Noah more or less covered it. The 2nd Annual Marty Cronin Invitational was last year. The 3rd Annual Marty Cronin Invitational took place just a couple weeks ago (we had over 80 teams this year, making it quite the invitational yet again).

I'm really sorry to have missed you. I would have loved to have you and Dan present, and I'm sure you would have done very well. Anyway, if you are interested in other competitive opportunities up here in Northern California, pop me an e-mail or a private message on this site.

I wish Emily and I had gone... We had "winter formal..." Who wants to be in a formal dress when they can be in a suit? Let's be serious here.
